The fatal shooting of a Houston man by a federal immigration officer Tuesday marks at least the eighth death during the Trump administration's immigration crackdown.

The update comes as the family of the man killed in Tuesday's shooting, Lorenzo Salgado Araujo, and local officials are demanding an independent investigation.

At the request of Mayor Whimire, Houston Police Chief Diaz said that he will provide resources to support the DHS and FBI investigation into the deadly ICE shooting of Lorenzo Salgado Araujo.
