Drivers going to Galveston face I-45 lane closures, extended detour starting Aug. 7

Drivers traveling to Galveston will encounter changes on I-45 starting August 7. The roadwork is part of a project to widen the highway to eight lanes. Short-term main lane closures are expected from FM 519 to Tiki Drive.
